About Us

About Us

Founded in 2001 by Atsu Awoonor, a retired primary school teacher and music specialist, Venavi Drums brings the joy and energy of African drumming to schools and communities across London and beyond.

Atsu spent many years teaching in the London Boroughs of Barnet, Wandsworth, and Enfield before retiring from classroom teaching. His passion for rhythm and education inspired him to create Venavi Drums, where he continues to share his expertise through lively, engaging, and educational drumming experiences.

At Venavi Drums, we offer weekly half-day and full-day drumming workshops during curriculum time for schools of all kinds – from nurseries and primary schools to sixth forms and adult education colleges. We also run after-school clubs and special programmes designed to nurture creativity, teamwork, and confidence through rhythm.

Over the years, Venavi Drums has proudly worked with more than 2,000 schools and inspired over 20,000 participants. Our workshops have been highly praised in numerous OFSTED reports, reflecting the positive impact they have on both pupils and teachers alike.
